Featuring six new tracks in total, the follow-up to Lapsus from London, UK based post-hardcore Doom/Sludge act Light Bearer is one of the jewels in the crown of parent label Moment of Collapse. The subject matter of Silver Tongue is based upon a number of interpretations of the Judeo Christian version of the casting out of Lucifer and the fall of man from the book of genesis. Pretty bleak subject matter then, but the band are more than up to the challenge of getting this across in an aural sense, as this is in fact the second chapter in a total of four acts that the sextet are creating around this theme. The other two namely Magisterium and Sword completing the quartile. OK, so is it any good I hear you say? Well, the answer is most certainly yes. Although the album takes a number of spins before everything starts falls into place, give this record time and you will no doubt agree. A solemnly subdued opening string section on ‘Beautiful Is This Burden’ thaws divinely, being replaced by a wall of crushing sludgy guitars. There is elements of classic Oceansize, generated by the chilling chimes of the clean guitar sections. The inclusion of piano, cello and trumpet on Silver Tongue is yet another refreshing discovery. Also, the engrossing artwork is provided once more by vocalist Alex CF, another impressive talent held by the singer.
Light Bearer are:
Matthew (Guitar, Piano, Vocals), Gerfried (Bass, Vocals), Jamie (Guitar), Lee (Soundscapes, Vocals), Joseph (Drums), Alex (Vocals, Art, Narrative).
