Horizon - Don't Let Time Pass You By

Finnish act Horizon has delivered an amazingly produced EP in Don’t Let Time Pass You By.  Icy atmospherics gently usher in this fine release from Horizon.  Opener “Flight of a Snowflake” slowly creeps into focus, and keeps you in anticipation for what awaits further ahead, but my is this worth the short wait?  Second track “Above the Ashes, The Blue Sky Gazes…” would quite comfortably surpass the five minute mark, however, the track is unfortunately cut too short and lasts just over two and a half minutes.  With the title of “The Darkest Days Are Finally Gone” you would be forgiven for thinking that this number should sound a little more upbeat, however this is not the case, and -S continues with his heartbreaking melancholy with relative ease, as each track meanders seamlessly into the next.  “The Time Passes You By”, is a mournfully sublime guitar led song that gently switches gear and leaves the listener wanting for more. In fact that is the only thing that is negative about this record, it is far too short.  The beautiful “Light To Thy Path” is a wonderful piano led lament, set on top of simple electronic beats.  The subtle ambience that is instilled is ideally placed as a closer to the record.  This release will leave its mark on you, should you allow it to grow, after a few listens. Don’t lose out, check it out now!  -S is currently working on a new album of material, to be released through Immortal Frost Productions.
