Thirteen years since its release, October Tide has since returned with a new line-up, however fans may always be drawn to this explosive debut. Even though the album was never toured by the band, it has rightfully been assigned classic status by underground followers. Co-written by Jonas Renkse and Fred Norrman in 1995, lead track ‘12 Days of Rain’ thunders along with ferocious intensity. Renkse growls like a wounded animal throughout, and also puts in a commanding performance on drums. The only down side about this album is that there is only seven songs on it, Renkse does not appear on any other of the bands records. The sublime ‘All Painted Cold’ echoes Katatonia’s ‘Brave Murder Day’ with a beautiful acoustic outro to boot. Renkse may have undoubtedly made great strides since this release; however, this album remains a benchmark that very few bands can equal even today.
