Although not as accessible to the mainstream as its predecessor, Drudkh’s – “Eternal Turn of the Wheel” is no less of a record. Opening with the wonderfully sublime instrumental “Eternal Circle” the Ukrainian goliaths deliver another album of impeccable melodies spurred on by brutal percussion of cataclysmic proportions by Vlad. They explode into “Breath of Cold Black Soil” like the well oiled machine we know (little of) and love, and storm through the remainder of the album perfectly. “Farewell to Autumn’s Sorrowful Birds” prowls with devilish grandeur and is arguably the strongest track on the album. As is standard practice for the Ukrainians, they refrain from out staying their welcome, leaving you wanting more once the disc has stopped spinning. Though not the best work Drudkh has served up in their 9 year career, “Eternal Turn of the Wheel” is still very much a gem of an album and will no doubt be widely regarded as such by fans in the years to come.
